Accommodation of Customs and Islamic Laws in Determining the Beginning of the Month of Ramadan for Indigenous Papuan Muslim Community in West Papua

The focus of this research is to examine the accommodation Islamic custom and law, especially in determining beginning end month Ramadan indigenous Papuan Muslim communities West Papua. This determination method known as traditional method, which considered most accurate Ramadan. community also maintains even though it often differs from government's determination. analytical used phenomenology by looking at people's behaviour text that can be interpreted given meaning. data basis for analysis study were obtained observations, interviews, documentation. Observations focused on peoples' traditions non-Ramadan. Interviews conducted with 12 informants syarak judges (Imam, khatib, muazzin, marbot) who have knowledge actors method. results show people been practising a long time, carried out consisting imams, marbot. They are figures capable knowing when will arrive. As number days Ramadan, must 30 days, so since first day set, counted up 30th day. cannot less more. limitation lies limited time process because was there an outbreak Corona Virus Disease 19.
